About this password generator

This tool creates strong, random passwords entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API — the same cryptographically secure random number source browsers use for security-sensitive features. Choose a length and the character types you want, and a password is generated instantly. Nothing you generate is sent to ToolLora, logged, or stored.

How to create a strong password

Set a length of at least 12–16 characters, keep lowercase, uppercase, numbers, and symbols all enabled, and avoid anything based on real words, names, or dates. This generator guarantees at least one character from every type you select, then fills and shuffles the rest randomly, so the result doesn't follow a predictable pattern like "Aa1!" followed by random letters.

What makes a password strong?

Strength mostly comes down to how unpredictable a password is: how long it is, and how large a pool of characters it's drawn from. A longer password with a mix of character types has far more possible combinations than a short one, or one using only lowercase letters, which is what makes it harder to guess or brute-force.

How long should a password be?

Longer is better. Many services accept 16 characters or more, and a password manager makes long, unique passwords painless to use since you don't have to type or remember them. If a site enforces a short maximum length, use the longest password it allows with the widest mix of character types.

Should passwords include symbols and numbers?

Yes, where the site allows it. Adding numbers and symbols to letters increases the pool of possible characters at each position, which increases the number of possible passwords of a given length. If a site doesn't accept symbols, rely on extra length instead.

Why unique passwords matter

Reusing a password across sites means that if one service is breached, every account using that same password is at risk too. Use a different, randomly generated password for each account — a password manager is the practical way to store and autofill them — and turn on multi-factor authentication wherever it's offered for an extra layer of protection beyond the password itself.

How ToolLora generates passwords

Each character is chosen using crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser's cryptographically secure random number source, with unbiased selection rather than a simple modulo. When more than one character type is selected, the generator first guarantees one character from each selected type, fills the remaining positions from the combined pool, and then shuffles the entire password — so selected types aren't clustered at the start. If your browser doesn't provide the Web Crypto API, this tool shows a clear message instead of falling back to weaker randomness.

Frequently asked questions

Is this password generator free?

Yes — completely free, with no account and no limits on how often you use it.

Are passwords generated securely?

Yes. Every character comes from crypto.getRandomValues(), the browser's cryptographically secure random source, using unbiased selection. Generation happens entirely on your device.

Does ToolLora store generated passwords?

No. Passwords are never sent to ToolLora's servers, never logged, and never saved in your browser's storage. They exist only on the page until you leave or generate a new one.

What password length should I use?

16 characters or more is a comfortable default when a site allows it. Use the longest length and widest character mix the site accepts.

Should I include symbols?

Yes, when the site accepts them — symbols expand the character pool and increase the number of possible passwords at a given length. If a site rejects symbols, rely on extra length instead.

Can I generate a password without numbers?

Yes. Untick any character type you don't want — at least one type must stay selected, or the generator shows a validation message instead of producing a password.

What does "exclude similar characters" mean?

It removes visually ambiguous characters — I, l, 1, O, 0, and o — which can be easy to mix up when reading or typing a password from paper or a screen.

Can I avoid duplicate characters?

Yes, with the "Avoid duplicate characters" option. If the requested length is longer than the number of unique characters available with your current settings, the generator shows a validation message rather than an invalid password.

Is a generated password guaranteed to be safe?

A strong, random password helps, but no generator can guarantee account security on its own. It also depends on using a unique password per account, enabling multi-factor authentication where available, keeping your devices secure, and handling passwords safely — for example not reusing them or sharing them insecurely.
